CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION LAB Cardiac Catheterization Lab at a Glance 24-hour coverage by local cardiologists Cardiac catheterization Temporary pacemaker insertion Peripheral Coronary Intervention (Angioplasty) With direction from our board-certified cardiologists, our specially trained staff members perform catheterizations daily. All staff members are registered nurses and/or technologists certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. In addition, the lab also offers other services including insertion of temporary pacemakers; cardioversion, which helps the heart revert to a normal rhythm; and transesophageal echocardiograms, which provide an ultrasound image of the heart that shows valve structures and helps detect blood clots. The Cath Lab works with hospital surgeons to perform balloon angioplasty and stent implants along with diagnostic catheterizations as well. The lab has 24-hour coverage by local cardiologists.
