MAMMOGRAPHY CENTER

Located in the Medical Plaza, the Mammography Center is a comfortable, private and convenient place for women. Accredited by the American College of Radiology, the Mammography Center includes its own X-ray and ultrasound machines, offering comprehensive treatment in the Center. The combination of a specially trained staff and the highest technology helps ensure that your visit is the best it can be.


BREAST CARE SERVICES

Should you be diagnosed with breast cancer and have surgery, Decatur General offers the newest technology and comprehensive treatment before, during and after your surgery.

· Case Manager for Women's Services
A case manager dedicated to breast cancer patients meets individually with each patient and provides education and support for the patient and her family.

· Post-Mastectomy Rehabilitation
The therapists at RehabAccess Women's Services play a comprehensive role in post-mastectomy rehabilitation. Post-mastectomy services provided by our therapists include lymphedema prevention and treatment, edema reduction methods, individualized exercise programs, scar care and educational handouts.

· Stereotactic Biopsy
This innovative biopsy procedure uses a fine needle to extract tissue, eliminating the traditional two-to-three inch incision for biopsies.

· Education Program
Our breast surgery education program educates, supports and prepares patients who are facing lumpectomy, mastectomy or breast reconstruction surgery.

· Support Groups
Led by certified case managers, several support groups including Bosom Buddies, Partner's Meal, Ladies' Lunch and Reach to Recovery offer an outlet for exercise, education and emotional support.

· Reach to Recovery Program
This volunteer program pairs breast cancer survivors with breast cancer patients as a way to provide information, guidance, and reassurance during this difficult time. If needed, volunteers also may deliver literature, bras and prostheses.
