ONCOLOGY CENTER
As the only comprehensive cancer care program in Morgan County, Decatur General Oncology Center offers patients and their families a broad spectrum of care — from diagnosis and treatment through rehabilitation, ongoing emotional support and recovery. Our approach encompasses the whole person, and involves the skills and expertise of physicians, nurses, technicians and support staff. A tumor board comprised of physicians and experts in radiation and medical oncology, pathology, surgery, radiology, Hospice care and nutrition meet weekly to discuss cancer cases of new patients to determine the best plan of treatment for them and continually seek to improve care and outcomes.
Our physician staff includes two medical oncologists and one radiation oncologist, all board-certified in their specialties. Each member of the Oncology Center staff is trained or certified in his or her respective field and the Center participates regularly in cutting-edge research and protocols in conjunction with larger research facilities and hospitals.
Decatur General Oncology Center is one of the few facilities in Alabama with a certified medical dosimetrist and a board-certified medical physicist. The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons approved the Center as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program.
Decatur General Oncology Center is conveniently located on Seventh Street, across from the Medical Plaza.
