The Decatur General Emergency Department is a fully equipped, modern facility staffed 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week by physicians and nurses experienced in all areas of emergency care, including cardiac, trauma and pediatric medicine. Decatur General's Emergency Department treats nearly 55,000 patients a year.

The department features the most advanced technology and special treatment areas for pediatric; obstetrics/gynecological; ophthalmologic; ear, nose and throat; and orthopaedic care. Full radiology facilities in the department ensure that patients are treated as efficiently as possible, keeping movement and transportation to a minimum.
