DOULA SERVICE The Women's Center staff at Decatur General believes that support for a laboring woman is key to a positive experience for both mom and family. For many years, new moms have relied on the services of a doula, a personal childbirth coach and advocate. The added support and personal focus from a doula during pregnancy, as well as during labor and delivery, greatly assist in reducing the natural fears and anxieties that sometimes arise. Doulas are specially trained and experienced, focusing on drug-free methods, such as massage and deep-relaxation techniques, to help manage the labor process. All of our Labor and Delivery nurses are trained as doulas. www.dona.org
