The Radiology Department is poised to be a major player in the battle against cancer in the new millennium. In late 2000, we are finalizing the purchase of a new spiral CT scanner, which will be installed in early 2001. The oncology patient will notice substantially reduced scan times, from typical times of thirty to forty-five minutes before to about five minutes in most cases. The potential for routine use of thinner image sections, multiphase image acquisition, and decreased susceptibility to motion artifacts should allow even more accurate detection and staging of tumors than before. The ability to conduct image-guided procedures such as biopsies will also be improved.

In addition to CT scanning, the Radiology Department also provides state of the art ultrasound, mammography, plain films, fluoroscopy, angiography and nuclear medicine. These services are provided through a combination of modern equipment, quality personnel and board-certified radiologists.
